There are no meaningless moments when life is contemplated in light of the glory of God.
LET GOD’S STRENGTH BE YOUR STRENGTH AT WORK TODAY
Even the dream job doesn’t always live up to its expectations.
I love my work as an editor, and I really can’t conceive of a better fit for me. But there are still times that work is just hard and stressful. That’s true for all of us! The reality of the Fall means that even the best of jobs aren’t all we expect or envision them to be. People are difficult (and so are you!), the workload borders on unrealistic, and personal stuff always adds a layer of complexity and tension.
But there’s really only one practical, realistic answer. Turn to God for strength.
The fact is, you and I ARE going to deal with people who are difficult at times. We ARE going to have to manage unrealistic workloads and work a few nights and weekends. Problems, both at work and in our personal lives, WILL happen.
But part of the good news of gossiping the gospel is that we don’t have to be strong in and of ourselves. Our confidence is Christ and our strength comes from God. That’s true in life. It’s true at work.
How do we access that strength today? I’ve made “strength” my One Word this year, and I’ve found that remembering and praying God’s word is the best way to be anchored in His strength.
Psalm 18:2 says, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Pray that Psalm this morning. Write it on your desk and pray it whenever you feel discouraged. Keep it on your mind and in your heart all day today.
Let God’s strength be your strength, and watch Him work amazing things in you and through your work.
Here are some other scriptures that have anchored me this year. What other scriptures do you turn to? We’d love to know!
