Euaggelion. Yes Euaggelion.
So, while I’m a big fan of good news, I’m an even greater fan of The Good News – Euaggelion.
I find it interesting that to fully understand God’s Good News, there’s some bad news I need to consider. For instance, why was Christ’s suffering and death on the cross necessary? The short answer is the bad news. It has to do with the sacrificial order God established which stated that when a sin was committed that a sacrifice must be made to appease God’s justice and righteousness. You see many of these sacrificial rites detailed in the Old Testament, and all of them point toward the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for sin.
So, the bad news was that sinful mankind (that’s you and me) needed a sacrifice, and no sacrifice we could provide would serve the purpose of redeeming us from the sins we were enslaved to. But the Good News is that God made a way for us to be forgiven, and that believing the proclamation of the Gospel, and receiving God’s great gift of eternal life, puts us on right footing with Him.
I call that Amazing Grace!
No I’m not going to consider signing this song.
Do we hunger for others to know the mercy and grace we’ve found? Do we thirst for Christ to be experienced so deeply that we’ve always got a full well of living water to share with others?
Let’s SPREAD HOPE ITS TIME!
